Power Mongers at Large

power1.gif

Want to be a power monger? Here’s a list of the top power people from CNN Money.

Power can be overrated, ask people who have it. The stress associated with keeping it is incredible. People are always looking to the power people to set the trend and lead the way, not always possible. Power is usually associated with money and position. Both can be taken away swiftly. Ask those who were criminally prosecuted for corporate fraud, not only did they lose their jobs, but their reputation, assets, family and freedom, tough price to pay for power.

Digest This

readers digest.jpgHow much is a magazine worth? Looks like a whole heap of cash, Readers Digest is being sold for $2.4 billion.

I guess all those little stories and funny captions has paid off handsomely for the little magazine. Who says small doesn’t sell.

I like Readers Digest, they have a variety of articles for all types of people and those cartoon jokes are pretty funny too. The size is great to carry around or shove into a briefcase/computer case for easy access.

They Got Fried For Big Bucks

electricity.jpgWhat do you know at 17 years if age? These 2 guys got fried with electricity when they climbed on top of a railway car. Electricity from a high voltage wire travelled or (arced) to their bodies. Should they have known the hidden dangers of travelling electricity?

I don’t know, at 17 would we know better? Maybe the location of the high voltage wire was not first in their minds. Maybe having fun climbing a railway car and acting like a fool was the primary objective for these tots. Sure must have been an enlightning experience though.

Would he or Woodn’t He?

wooden-leg.jpgIt takes all kinds. Appears that a man, looking for a deal on cosmetics products, took it upon himself to shoplift some goods.

The problem for security was where did he stashed the goods? They couldn’t figure out where he hid them. It took security some time to figure it out when the thief finally coughed up the goods, well hidden in his wooden leg. Security promptly put the handcuffs on the thief.

That’s right, I guess you have to use everything that’s available to pull off a heist these days and he used a resource near and dear to himself.

Fed Ex Follies

kevin federline.jpgWhat do you do when your meal ticket is over? Kevin Federline knows, you push yourself onto the public eye before they forget your name. He is recording himself and others in his car. Yup, pretty bright eh! Guess you gotta do what you gotta do when the party is over.
This has to be the worst personal financial move in the history of celebrity kept men.Are these guys stupid or what?

Not known for his celebrity status, Fed Ex is being divorced by Britney Spears, who finally came to her senses after 2 kids and a pitiful role model of a husband. Why would you jeopardize your marriage of convenience, versus financial security for life? Only Fed Ex knows for sure.

Stupid is as Stupid Does

bills.jpgI think that most counterfeiters are not that smart. Would you copy paper money one sided? Well, that’s what this person did.

Maybe if you are in a rush to buy some groceries and gas on the run you would try this as well. Or, if you have only one chance to photo copy whatever your grubby little hands can grab. I thought this was kinda funny, enjoy.

I Don’t Get It!

auctions_image.jpgI just don’t get it! People have this strange craving to own someone elses’s stuff by paying an incredible amount of money for them. This craving gets inflated if the item was once owned by a celebrity. My gosh!
What do you do with the stuff? Do you display the item on a pedestal, then invite people over to your house to boast about your proud ownnership? What an ego maniac. Would you pay $70,000 for a pair of sunglasses, even if they were worn by Steve McQueen? I know I wouldn’t.

Buying a Business 101

buying a business.jpgI just bought a business. WOW, I feel great just to say it. Sick and tired of working for someone else? Not reaping any rewards, recognition or your compensation a joke? Or, are you just fed up with working for and reporting to AS*HOLES! Well, you need to take the plunge like I did. I will walk you through the process over the next couple of weeks in a short series on Buying a Business 101.

This is something that has nagged me all my life. My background and experience for all my working life has been in the CORPORATE WORLD. Sounds exciting, it’s not. I have worked myself up to a DIRECTOR level of management. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be, believe me. The scratching and clawing to get there wasn’t worth it, not to mention the 60+ hour work weeks and very hard intense stressful workload was overwhelming at times. Seeing and experiencing the stupidity, the power mongers, and of course the back stabbers (you know, the people who are your friends), that have no clue about the business, or what they’re doing, but, who continue to poke their heads up the bosses you know what, was disgusting.

Now that my rant is over, I had to get that crap off my chest, I’ll concentrate on the purchasing of the business. Stay tuned and I share the process along the way, it’s actually been refreshing so far and who knew that I would even consider to be in this type of business, no way!

The Economics of a Dollar, Sort Of

dollar.jpgWhat is a dollar really worth? Don’t look at this from a national prespective, think of it in a local or regional prespective. Meaning, what do you get for a dollar where you live? It doesn’t do you much good if the dollar has a higher value in Florida, if you live in New York.

The attached article clearly defines the New York value of a dollar at $76.20.

Shocking, maybe. The chart looks at all factors of daily living, compare your costs and go from there. Interesting enough are the lifestyle choices we all make. Depending where you decide to live, your lifestyle, disposable income, long term retirement goals, there are real issues around your future expectations on personal finances, assets or your lifestlye. Thinka about how you want to live in the future, how much money it will take and can you afford to stay living where you are or will you have to relocate?
