You Decide What to Pay

restaurant.jpgWhat’s your meal worth when eating out? Why not try this new concept, pay what you think your meal was worth! WOW, what a fantastic new concept, I truely hope this works. Wouldn’t you like to have the option to decide what to pay for crappy, lousy, pathetic food? There’s nothing worse than having to pay for crap!

Most people will support this concept and probably pay more than what the meal was worth or costs the restaurant. I support this process fully and congradulate the innovators of this concept, what a super idea for the food industry. Good Luck!

Can Soda Kill You?

soda-drinks.jpgDo you know what the impact of drinking one soda a day is? According to the attached article, drinking one soda can have huge health risks and ultimately lead to death. Scared enough to cut down or reduce now?

The major ingredient or contributor to the health issues is the sugar content in the soda. If you are a big soda drinker you need to be aware of the risks associated with this social drink. Some people believe that drinking soda has no health risks because it has no alcohol, not true. Sugar has many adverse effects on your health, from diabetes to heart disease. There’s the weight thing too, sugar will contibute to your weight gain which leads to health issues. If you can control your input, especially at an early age, then you stand a chance of not having any adverse effects of soda. Some schools are trying to eliminate soda in the schools to curb student consumption, not sure if this will work. Most students will find another way to purchase and drink soda if they want it.

Cost of Sparking Up Goes Up

cigarettes.jpgThe cost of smoking is going up big time in Texas. An increase of $1 a pack will hit consumers hard. Store owners are nervous over potential reduced profits and the impact this will have with their customers.

Of course, there’s an age old message that any monetary increase will hopefully work to disway teenagers from starting to spark up at an early age. The cost of buying smokes being so high, that most average school students would not be able to afford this habit. However, if there is ever a challenge for the young, they will overcome at all cost.

It’s Good to be a Trader

bankers.jpgHow would you like to receive a million dollar bonus? Looks like it’s good to be a Banker or Trader these days. Times are good and you might as well get as much cash as possible. Some of the risky positions can reap great rewards, you just have to be willing to take the risk and deal with the outcome, good or bad.

Business Update

buying1.bmpIt’s been a long time since I have updated anything on this site, very sorry for the huge time gap. I have been completely consumed with my newly purchased business DRY CLEANING. This was the last busines I could ever imagine myself becoming involved in, let alone buying, what a surprise.

After almost 2 years of an intense and exhautive search, I decided that all the pieces fit perfectly. I have ZERO experience in Dry Cleaning, however, this business has been established for 23 years at a fantastic location in a very busy mall with huge traffic. I researched this opportunity for a few months, it just felt right. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can not learn a new business, service or product, you can. I have a great mentor at the Plant where all the actual cleaning takes place. My business is a Dry Cleaning DEPOT. We take the clothes from the customer and deliver them to the Plant for cleaning and then take them back to the Depot where the customer picks them up. A pretty simply business model.

I will begin my series in How to Buy an Existing Business soon. I have  lots of information to share with you and some simple suggestions on what NOT TO DO. I wish I knew then what I know now, I would have saved myself a lot of time and effort. But all is a learing eperience that can only be looked back at with humility and humour.

Stay tuned.

Paying for Pets

cats.jpgIf your in the market for a family pet, be careful of the retailer who is selling the pet. Some do not have a license to sell certain animals, like a hampster here.

I would strongly suggest that you visit an animal shelter, that’s where we have found our cats over the years. They usually have been dropped off by previous owners who can not or are not able to care for them in the future. In most cases, the shelter will provide vaccination discounts, or other similar health requirements for you when you take them home.

Another suggestion, I would have your new pet checked out by a Veterinarian for assurances of good health, never hurts to be safe when obtaining a New pet when you don’t know the previous owner or where the pet came from.

We’re Going Crazy

stupid.jpgHow about getting sued for having your prices too low? That’s right, we’ve gone totally mad!

This is way beyond belief. What’s next, getting sued for breathing too little air?

So let’s quickly review an old economics adage: Charge too much and you’re price gouging. Charge too little and you’re predatory pricing. Charge the same as your competitor and you’re in collusion. How can you possibly win?

Whatever happened to healthy competition, with a little creativity thrown in for good measure. What is business, if not, free enterprise? What has our western government been cramming down everyone elses’e throat but DEMOCRACY! Where’s the justice now?

So if your operating your own business, watch out. You could make more money by suing your competition for selling products and services for less than you are, what?

Impulse Shopping or Not

xmas-shopping-1.jpgI love it, I hate it, Impulse Shopping. I don’t like to shop period, however, that being said, if I know I have to shop, I usually go and get it over with as fast as possible. I’m the type of person that knows what he wants and goes to the store and buys it within record time. I don’t mill around and look at things, inspecting stuff to death. If I see something that I want, I buy it, quickly and quietly. Sometimes the prices doesn’t matter either. Just get me out of the store, fast.

Now being a “guy” there are items that I will research and investigate beyond exhaustion. Since the inception of the Internet, I will comparison shop to the enth degree. Simply being at home, nice and comfortable, allows you to visually shop around and price shop at your ease and pleasure. I will take breaks, sometimes for days, and resume my searches. Not being in a hurry can help and hinder, especially if your shopping with someone else. This can be very stressful, what if they’re a “shopper”, taking all the time in the world while your dying from boredom and anxiety to get out of the store

Now, if your talking about electronic equipment, this is not an impulsive purchase at all for me. I will stop at nothing to ensure that I purchase the exact item and price I’m willing to spend for it. For me, these components last 10+ years, and I’m not going to go through this again for a very long time. I’m always concerned with paying too much, doesn’t that bother you? Seeing your already purchased item on sale for far less than you paid, I hate it! Of course if it’s on sale at the same store of my original purchase, I go back and ask for the difference, but if it’s another retail outlet, your out of luck, and it sucks.

We’re just around the corner from Xmas time and the madness associated with shopping for presents. This also has high anxiety and stress levels at a peak for me. Again, I try to know what I’m looking for before I leave the house. Don’t even try to look around in a store for something to buy, if you don’t know what your looking for, you’ll drive yourself crazy. And try to find someone to help you, forget it.

So, all that being said, I think that shopping is a big headache. No time, no money and no desire. If I could enlist someone else to do this for me I would, but my wife and kids are just as stressed out as I am, so here we go again for Xmas madness.

Schools Out

school behaviour.jpgI’ve been writing more and more about stupid “cash intellect” people than ever before. Here’s another one for the books.

It appears that a school superintendent has been caught, so to speak, with his pants down. Financial auditors have uncovered a receipt for a strip club that he expenses on a business outing. The odd thing was he also stayed in a hotel in the same city as his residence, why would you do that? Perhaps for some hanky panky? Of course the main issue here is what is he doing expensing charges through a strip club? Why would anyone take the risk of doing this? Is your job, reputation, family, or kids worth the embarrassment? I think not.

What to get Your Spoiled Brats for Xmas

spoiledbrats.jpg

Don’t know what to get your spoiled brats for Xmas? Try some of these little trinkets.I’m sure they’re worth it, right? Feeling guilty because you have so much money now and didn’t have much as a kid? Spend all your money on your kids now, cause when you croak they’ll spend it anyways. Might as well see their spoiled faces and set their expectations at an early age, the world will welcome them with open arms, just tell them to keep their hands ready to dish out the big bucks!
