Impulse Shopping or Not
I love it, I hate it, Impulse Shopping. I don’t like to shop period, however, that being said, if I know I have to shop, I usually go and get it over with as fast as possible. I’m the type of person that knows what he wants and goes to the store and buys it within record time. I don’t mill around and look at things, inspecting stuff to death. If I see something that I want, I buy it, quickly and quietly. Sometimes the prices doesn’t matter either. Just get me out of the store, fast.
Now being a “guy” there are items that I will research and investigate beyond exhaustion. Since the inception of the Internet, I will comparison shop to the enth degree. Simply being at home, nice and comfortable, allows you to visually shop around and price shop at your ease and pleasure. I will take breaks, sometimes for days, and resume my searches. Not being in a hurry can help and hinder, especially if your shopping with someone else. This can be very stressful, what if they’re a “shopper”, taking all the time in the world while your dying from boredom and anxiety to get out of the store
Now, if your talking about electronic equipment, this is not an impulsive purchase at all for me. I will stop at nothing to ensure that I purchase the exact item and price I’m willing to spend for it. For me, these components last 10+ years, and I’m not going to go through this again for a very long time. I’m always concerned with paying too much, doesn’t that bother you? Seeing your already purchased item on sale for far less than you paid, I hate it! Of course if it’s on sale at the same store of my original purchase, I go back and ask for the difference, but if it’s another retail outlet, your out of luck, and it sucks.
We’re just around the corner from Xmas time and the madness associated with shopping for presents. This also has high anxiety and stress levels at a peak for me. Again, I try to know what I’m looking for before I leave the house. Don’t even try to look around in a store for something to buy, if you don’t know what your looking for, you’ll drive yourself crazy. And try to find someone to help you, forget it.
So, all that being said, I think that shopping is a big headache. No time, no money and no desire. If I could enlist someone else to do this for me I would, but my wife and kids are just as stressed out as I am, so here we go again for Xmas madness.
