Is Branding Important?

brandz_jw.jpgThink about all the products and services you know through pictures, how do you recognize the company that produces them? Perhaps by their branding? Or through a memorable saying, mascot, logo, or a picture? You should be able to instantly produce an image in your mind associated with the company name.

Is it creative marketing? Maybe, or marketing saturation to the point of being inundated with the image of what the company is selling? How much can you absorb before you become annoyed with the marketing angle?

Of course, there are different marketing strategies, both using words and pictures, but how about using a character? Celebrity advertising is very costly, so if you can brand yourself without using a well known person then maybe an item or character would be just as beneficial. Like a cartoon character, we tend to remember images of people or things better than words. You can put your character on everything you produce. Think of the whole Disney line, their entire branding of Mickey Mouse and friends is recognizable worldwide. What company wouldn’t like that penetration throughout the world?

Bottom line, brand recognition is paramount to your business and can determine your success. Test the market, ask people for feedback before you launch. Consider what works for you in your business, don’t rush this decision, it’s too important.
