Smart & Dumb

smart2.jpgDaimlerChrysler has made an announcement that they will market the Smart Car in the United States in 2008. This could be a disaster waiting to happen, or at best, a definite high risk move. The creative car company has lost $3.6 billion since 1998 on the Smart Car model. However, they’re counting on the high price for fuel continuing in North America, as well as, the consumer changing their buying habits in favor of more economical transportation vehicles.

Keep in mind that these Smart Cars can only accommodate 2 people and have literally no storage compartments. Don’t expect to travel long distances, unless you are willing to accept the physical pain that goes along with no room to stretch out on long trips. As usual, buyer beware, you might be better off with a scooter if fuel cost is your main concern.
